Description | GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK
Under the supervision of the Principal, the Administrative Support Specialist II performs record keeping and other intermediate clerical duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Receive and receipt money for accounts and deposit funds
- Order supplies, check invoices, and maintain inventory
- Type letters, memos, reports, bulletins, requisitions, invoices, schedules, manuals, student files, and records
- Process mail, answer telephone, meet the public, and provide information
- Operate standard office machines
- Prepare and maintain various school, pupil, teacher, and program files
- Prepare and maintain payroll and personnel records
- Maintain registers, attendance and grade records, and reports
- Prepare grade, attendance, and transcript records
- Provide transcripts and other information to colleges and other agencies
- Administer minor first aid in absence of the School Nurse
- Perform intermediate clerical and routine technical work requiring a qualified typist
- Prepare and maintain fiscal and related records in areas designated by the Principal
- Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Considerable progressively responsible experience in clerical and/or accounting work
- Thorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and equipment
- Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic
- Knowledge of school system routines, banking procedures, payroll and personnel procedures, and financial record keeping
- General knowledge of bookkeeping terminology, methods, and procedures
- General knowledge of basic first aid practices
- Ability to develop and follow detailed work procedures
- Ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed
- Ability to meet the public effectively
- Ability to work independently in the absence of specific instruction
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by courses in business, typing and bookkeeping and some experience in clerical and/or accounting work
- Associate's Degree or higher preferred
