IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of the Piedmont Governor’s School 

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under direction of the Piedmont Governor’s School Director, plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervise students in a variety of school related settings. Monitor and evaluate student learning outcomes. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community. Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of gifted students. Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

Master’s Degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the subject area. Must have or be eligible for a teacher license from the Virginia Department of Education. Gifted education endorsement and teaching experience preferred. 

 

PRIMARY LOCATION: This is a shared position between the Danville site located at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research and the Martinsville site located at Patrick Henry Community College. 

 

SALARY RANGE: $53,492 - $71,188 Starting salary will be determined based on verifiable years of experience in an instructional or administrative capacity in education. Additional stipend available for employees with a doctorate. 

 

SHIFT TYPE: Full-time
