GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK

 

Under the direction of the principal and supervising teacher, the Instructional Paraprofessional assists in the daily supervision and instruction of students.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS

 

All paraprofessionals hired to perform instructional duties must meet one of the following criteria:

 

Ability to work closely with teachers; ability to communicate effectively with students and adults, and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

 

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND WORK CONTACTS

 

Work is typically performed in a school setting, primarily in classrooms and throughout the school, sitting and/or standing while working with students, operating office equipment, and working with files. Occasional walking, light lifting up to 40 pounds, and other limited physical activities are required.  Occasional field trips, which may require working beyond normal work hours.  Daily contact is made with students, teachers, and administrators in person and occasionally by telephone, email, and/or in writing.  Occasional interaction with parents/guardians.

 

 

EVALUATION

 

Will be evaluated annually on the ability and effectiveness to carry out the above responsibilities as outlined.
